Architectural Styles
Art Deco is an eclectic form of elegant and stylish modernism, being influenced by a variety of sources. Among them were the "primitive" arts of Africa, Egypt, and Aztec Mexico, as well as Machine Age. The Art Deco style became popular between 1920 and 1939. It affected architecture, art, and other aspects of society. Pioneers of the style include Hector Guimard, Eugène Grasset, Raoul Lachenal, Paul Follot, Maurice Dufrene, and Emile Decour.
