On Friday, January 18, the CEA, POE, and CAD classes went to the Philbrook in Tulsa, OK. All of the students and teachers were broken up into four groups for a tour of the museum. During our guided tour we were told that the he museum was originally the home of the Phillips family. They are best known for their connection to Phillips Oil. After raising their children in the house they left it to the people of Tulsa. The museum tour was great! We were able to view everything from art and sculpture from the Renaissance to ancient and modern American Indian art.

The house and grouds were the highlight of the tour. The Phillips designed the home in the style of an Italian villa. The broad gardens, ponds, fountains, and paths were amazing.

After the museum tour, we visited the travelling Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit. It contained furniture, sketches, and decor from many of his Usonian homes. Wright's dream was to design homes for the common man. He also wanted to design every component within the home, from the dinnerware to the vases. It was a great display of his work.

After touring the Philbrook, we drove through Tulsa and saw some examples of Art Deco that Tulsa is famous for. We were also able to drive past the Richard Lloyd Jones home near the museum. This is the only FLW structure built in Tulsa.

"Think Green and Eat Lean"
-This semester we will be redesigning the SHS cafeteria, at least virtually that is. We will be creating a cafeteria incorporating "green" building principles. It must also have an added concept of "eating lean". We will also enter our REVIT drawings into the Studica Skills competition.
